I laid a horse in the Place market and it was unplaced. Why have I not won?

At Betfair, we open our markets to customers early and commit to the same Rules until the race is settled. So if there are initially 16 runners in a UK handicap and we set the Place terms at 4 Places to be paid, then any number of non-runners will not affect these conditions, unlike other firms. We believe this is much fairer to punters.
